The school works out of the Harborage Marina in St. Petersburg, by appointment rather than on a published class calendar, and has been running for more than two decades. Tampa Bay is a forgiving classroom: protected water, a sea breeze you can set your watch by most of the season, and enough commercial traffic in the shipping channel to teach right-of-way somewhere it actually matters.

The fleet is the differentiator. Catamarans run to a Leopard 45, a Leopard 42, and a Seawind 1160; the monohulls span roughly 32 to 51 feet across Bavaria, Beneteau, and Jeanneau hulls. That range is what makes the upper end of the certification pathway practical here: cruising-catamaran and advanced-cruising tickets need boats of a size most schools do not keep, and a 45-foot cat is a different animal to dock than the 22-footer you learned on.

Instruction is deliberately one-to-one rather than cohort-based, which is the reason to choose it over a bigger school with a fixed timetable. You set the pace, and nobody else’s learning curve sets yours. Alongside the school the operation runs three related lines: a membership scheme for members who want to sail the fleet without owning, an own-and-lease program for owners who want their boat working while they are not aboard, and captained charters for anyone who would rather be driven. The school takes part in ASA’s Veterans Sailing Education Program, which discounts the 101 for veterans, active military, and reservists.
