Founded in 1955, Coral Reef Yacht Club sits on Biscayne Bay in Coconut Grove, a short reach from the Gulf Stream, the Intracoastal Waterway, the Florida Keys, and the Bahamas. That deep-water access, paired with the bay’s reliable winter sea breeze, has kept the club a fixture on the international one-design circuit.
Racing is the club’s identity. Coral Reef has hosted Star World Championships and Etchells North Americans, and since 1962 it has been the home of the Bacardi Cup, the historic Star-class regatta that has sailed from the Grove every year since, and whose centennial edition it co-hosts with Biscayne Bay Yacht Club. Resident fleets race Stars, Etchells, and J/70s, and members also sail the Biscayne Bay Yacht Racing Association season series alongside the bay’s other clubs.
The club’s youth program is among the most productive in the country and has turned out national and Olympic-level sailors. Each December CRYC organizes the Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta, which dates to 1946 and now draws more than 700 sailors aged 8–18 from roughly two dozen countries, one of the largest youth regattas in the world.
Coral Reef Yacht Club is a private, member-owned club with reciprocal privileges for visiting yacht-club members. Membership is by sponsorship through the club’s membership office, which also handles reciprocal-visit and dockage arrangements.

Founded 1887 by Commodore Ralph Middleton Munroe, and one of the oldest yacht clubs in the Southeastern United States. Current Coconut Grove clubhouse dates to 1932; an early lessee of the Cape Florida lighthouse from 1888 to 1893.
