Volusia County sailing club on the west bank of the Halifax River, the community-side counterpart to HRYC. Long-running junior program through the Halifax Area Youth Sailing Foundation, plus US Sailing Basic Keelboat instruction for adults.
The fleet is the point. Nine boats live on the floating dock at Fremont Court: Sunfish, Lasers, a Capri 14.2 and a Flying Scot at the dinghy end; Precision, San Juan 21, Catalina 22 and Catalina 25 keelboats; and a Hobie 16 for anyone who wants a trampoline under them. Members take them out first-come, first-served, with no rental fee on top of dues, the arrangement that separates a community sailing association from a club with a waiting list.
Adult instruction runs on US Sailing’s Learn Sailing Right! curriculum with certified instructors. Beginners start single-handed on a Sunfish over four days, nine to four, in groups of eight to ten. It is a fast way to learn that a sailboat is a set of feedback loops, since there is nobody else aboard to blame. The intermediate course steps up to the Capri 14.2 for two days in a smaller group, and assumes you can already sail a little and swim well enough to be casual about capsizing.
Youth sailing runs through the Halifax Area Youth Sailing Foundation, which fields summer camps and a year-round team for ages nine to seventeen, no prior experience required.
The association is currently raising money to rebuild the dock all of this hangs off.
Halifax Sailing Association is open to the public: no member sponsorship required to take part. Class schedules, program fees, and any membership or annual-pass options are posted on its website.

Founded 1907, one of the older yacht clubs on Florida's east coast. Sits at the mouth of the Banana River adjacent to the Intracoastal; relocated to its current Indian Harbour Beach campus in 1960.

Power, sail, and social club organized 1980, on the Indian River Lagoon at Seaway Drive in downtown Fort Pierce. Monthly offshore PHRF races plus spring, fall, and all-ladies regattas; any YCA-club member is welcomed, with transient berths next door at the city marina.
